About the event
We are excited to share that the Oakland Beach Revival Society just received permit approval from CRMC and the city for our coastal restoration project.
This project will focus on Zone 1B and Zone 2 (see attached map highlighted in red). These areas were selected because they have been impacted by invasive plants, especially Japanese Knotweed, which has taken over parts of the coastal buffer and prevents native plants from growing.
Our goal is to remove the knotweed over time and replace it with native plants that support wildlife, improve the health of the shoreline, and create a stronger natural habitat. This is a careful process that will take approximately three years because knotweed must be managed through its growth cycle and the area needs time to recover and be replanted..
